"I am very excited about the
possibility...to be directly involved in the [SUNYConnect LMS] project." Ms.
Marguerite Horn, Head of Cataloging, University at Albany, May 15, 1999 SUNY OLIS is pleased to announce that Ms. Horn is still excited about being directly involved in SUNYConnect. Maggie is scheduled to begin working with the SUNY Office of Library and Information Services August 17, 2000. We are very appreciative of Maggie's patience during the (extra) long hiring process. (SUNY OLIS has been operating under a hiring freeze - on and off - for years.) Maggie will be working closely with libraries involved in implementing the ALEPH 500 software. The newest member of the OLIS staff has extensive academic library experience. Along with SUNY Albany, this experience includes work at UC Davis, Brown, and Northern Arizona University. Database Projects Librarian, Head of Bibliographic Services, Principal Serials Catalog Librarian and Retrospective Conversion Coordinator are some of Maggie's previous job titles. Her experience with library management systems includes GEAC ADVANCE, Innovative Interfaces, CARL and DRA. In addition, Maggie's experience involves work with OCLC and RLIN, authority control processing and technical training. Ms. Horn has a MSLS from UNC Chapel Hill and a BA in European History from UMass Amherst. Maggie indicates that she excels at "training, data analysis and software testing," all of which are useful skills for the SUNYConnect future. Please join us in giving Maggie a warm welcome to SUNY OLIS. Other Staffing News Maureen Zajkowski, SUNYConnect LMS Project Manager, has agreed to take a full time permanent position with the SUNY Office of Library and Information Services. Previously Maureen worked with the OLIS on release time from the University at Binghamton. Sometime after August 2000 Maureen (and Robert Zajkowski) plan to move to the Capital District of New York. Welcome Maureen! SUNY OLIS has been given a go-ahead for additional hiring. Please see the SUNY System Administration Employment Opportunities web page and forward a copy of the job ad(s) to any appropriate individual. We are seeking two librarians (primarily for training responsibilities), a UNIX system administrator and an office manager. |
