A new SUNY OLIS publication debuted on September
15, 2000. The SUNYConnection
is distributed every fourth Friday via electronic mail. The publication is also posted to
the SUNYLA-l, SCLD-L, and Aleph-NA lists. We have various roles and responsibilities vis-a-vis SUNYConnect (just as SUNY libraries have roles and responsibilities that determine SUNYConnect success). For SUNY OLIS these duties include program planning and oversight, consultation with the SUNY libraries, data extraction/manipulation (for 40 LAIP libraries), and more. An equally important responsibility is to try and keep interested groups informed regarding program progress, important discussions, and various other details large and small. SUNYConnection is another communication vehicle attempting to fulfill this role. The newsletter presents brief updates on LMS implementation progress, developments regarding SUNYConnect databases, and other information on happenings related to the SUNYConnect initiative. Each issue provides URLs pointing you to additional reading and/or resources. By popular demand (?) the newsletter includes a quote "worth repeating." We are always interested in ways to improve communication on SUNY-wide library initiatives. Please contact SUNY OLIS with any ideas you may have for better informing the community about things SUNYConnect or for subscription requests for the SUNYConnection newsletter. SUNYConnection #1 included the following "heads up" pointing you to new and/or updated documents available via the SUNYConnect web space.
