OLIS kudos are appropriate for Ms. Meredith
Butler, Dean of University Libraries, University at Albany. Meredith is SUNY's first
Distinguished Librarian. The SUNY Board of Trustees made the presentation December 19,
2000 in New York City. Those with full Librarian rank (for at least five years) and at least ten years of SUNY service are eligible to be considered for the Distinguished Librarian promotion. The Distinguished Librarian rank has been a long time in the making. The SUNY Librarians Association deserves considerable credit in seeing this to fruition. Likewise, Ms. Ginette Chambers of the Provost's Office has our thanks for her efforts shepherding the new designation through the approval process.
