As was mentioned in the last issue of SUNYergy, the SUNYConnect Advisory Council (S.A.C.) has been planning and strategizing on the future of SUNYConnect. During this process the following strategic areas have been identified:

Create a holistic staffing model for SUNY libraries;
Develop a process that builds innovative products and services for SUNYConnect;
Develop a strong SUNY-wide digital collection;
Implement SUNY-wide Collaborative Collection Development and Management;
Integrate SUNY libraries with campus and system-wide teaching, learning, and research strategies;
Develop user-driven "anywhere," "anytime" services;
Stabilize and increase funding for SUNYConnect while ending subsidies;
Simplify the SUNY library user's online interaction through new library resources, programs, and services.

The group is incorporating these strategic areas into a report called "SUNYConnect II: 2005-2010 Strategic Guidance Document." The document was shared with the SUNY Council of Library Directors at their April meeting. The plan is to then solicit additional input from the SUNY community about what the future SUNYConnect should look like. Please let your S.A.C. representative know what you think about this topic.
